Things that Dave did over the Easter break

Painted the house (outside)

The before shot showing the old balcony and the old heritage colours (blah)

The nearly finished shot showing the new colours (with same roof)

The side view shot. I helped paint this side whilst packing death on a rickety scaffold. I aged 10 years in one day. For shizzle.

Other things that Dave did over the Easter break...

Broke my car... with his truck.

Unfortunately it needs fixing, but not enough to get a new one. I almost had a new one picked out too. For shizzle.

The edited version

Its a good thing this is the edited version... the unedited version contains lots of pictures like this:

In Da House

There is a new loo with a view spot

and a new walk in robe frame

and we said goodbye to the old fire heater (yes that is the hot mess that is my present bathroom).

The smaller people in da house have been doing homework

and dishes

and cheesing it up for their mother who has been taxiing them around for school holidays.

David and I went to look at MORE display houses. It is time consuming but if you are renovating its a really good way to see the finished products and 'looks'.

Here is the type of range hood we will have in our new kitchen. Slimline and powerful (winwin). I have just realised I have turned into someone who discusses range hoods ... with a straight face. God help me as I may also have sent a text to Vyc with the topic of ugly bathroom exhaust fans.

The square look is in ... but not for us.

The splash back on this kitchen is actually very close to the feature tile in our new bathroom.

As Dave was pulling down this wall Lulu got to decorate it.

In other news, the Mr & Mrs finally celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary (that was back in January) with a lunch at the coast here. It was wonderful.

This past weekend Lucy and I along with the family that gave us Daisy the Guinea Pig went to the Bli Bli Guinea Pig Show. Wow I am still speechless over it. I honestly thought there would be two men and their dog there. I started to think differently when we had to park down the road because of how many cars were at the hall.

It was packed to the rafters and just so you know people take their show Gpigs very very seriously.

It was so crowded this was about the only pic I got.

The Peacocks come to visit

Last weekend we spent the day at the coast with Mum and Brian and Mum's best friends the Peacocks. Helen and John retired to South Africa and were visiting Oz on their way to Malaysia (to visit their daughter and family). The Peacocks and Davids fam lived in the Seychelles together and over the years I have heard many many stories about the legendary parties and shindigs they used to have. In fact I suspect David and I have NEVER thrown a party that would rival the Seychelles ones. Mum was so happy to see them and Helen was happy to tell the kids all about when their Dad was a naughty little boy ;-). We took the kids for a swim and the sun was shining so it was indeed happy days.

This is me telling David off/ giving directions for the camera whilst telling him not to take my pic because I have been swimming in the ocean all day and definitely don't take a pic of me in my daggy thongs... its a joy to be married to me I suspect.

Bear thoughts

Bear is nearly 14. It's such a roller coaster age. Sometimes I have conversations with him where he expresses mature and kind opinions that floor me. Sometimes he chucks a fruity that would put a toddler to shame. I was always scared of my kids becoming teenagers but so far it feels like most other ages and stages. Great days where you think your heart will explode with love for them and bad days where you want to sell them on ebay. Mostly I marvel and/or struggle to keep up with all that is going on in his world.

Yesterday he told me a story that went like this:

Riley " Oh Mum there are these two guys in my homeroom ... they are in Year 12 and they think they are so cool but they are gay"
Me: "Really gay? homosexual gay?"
Riley "No! Anyway they told Mr Penesi that me and my mate were smart arses.. and then Mr Penesi told us and we said yeah that sounds like them... Hahaha"

I have no idea what any of that means. I don't speak teenager.

Last year Bear received an Academic Excellence Award which meant we got to attend a Mass and award ceremony that was 4 hours long. This year he told us he would ONLY get another AE award if we didn't make him attend the ceremony. That is David's son talking. No way would I ever give up the chance to get up on stage and show off. He is also stubborn like David so there is no point arguing that the ceremony is a big deal (to helicopter parents like me). We agreed obviously.

Funny girl

Everyone thinks their kids are funny. And sweet and clever and kind hearted. Its the reward you get for being the parent. You get to see your kids in the softest of light and in the smallest of moments. I often find my kids laugh out loud funny. Both can have a very dry and witty outlook on life and this morning Lulu just cracked me up. Last night David was working on our (new) walk in robe wall. He made a new opening for the (old) bathroom (pics to come I know it makes no sense) long after Lu went to bed.

When she got up this morning she saw the new wall and door and said to David. "Oh Davo ... what have you done?" LOL for sure.
